What cookies and similar technologies this site uses, what each type is for, and how you stay in control of them.

SYS.01 Who we are

This site is operated by W'A.I Studios Ltd, a company registered in England and Wales under company number 16612775, based in London, United Kingdom. Questions about this policy go to privacy@w-ai.co.uk.

This policy sits alongside our Privacy Policy, which explains how we handle personal data more generally.

SYS.02 What a cookie is

A cookie is a small text file that a website stores on your device so it can recognise the device on a later visit or a later page. We use the word “cookies” here as shorthand for cookies and similar technologies, local storage, session storage and small tracking pixels, because they raise the same questions and are treated the same way in law.

Cookies are described as first-party when set by this site, and third-party when set by another service we use, such as an analytics provider.

SYS.03 Consent, the short version

Non-essential cookies load only once you have given consent. When you first visit, you are asked to accept or reject them. Nothing beyond the strictly necessary cookies is set until you choose, and rejecting is as easy as accepting.

You can change your mind at any time. Withdrawing consent stops future non-essential cookies being set and does not affect anything that happened while consent was in place. Strictly necessary cookies do not require consent, because the site cannot function without them.

SYS.04 The three categories we use

Essential (strictly necessary)

Required for the site to work. These are always active and are not optional. They do not track you across other websites.

PurposeWhat it doesTypical life
Consent recordRemembers whether you accepted or rejected non-essential cookies, so you are not asked on every page.Up to 12 months
SecurityProtects forms against cross-site request forgery and abuse, and supports basic rate limiting.Session
Session stateKeeps a page or the engine working correctly during a single visit, for example, holding the state of an open conversation.Session
Load balancingRoutes your requests to the right server so pages load reliably.Session

Analytics (non-essential, consent required)

Help us understand how the site is used, which pages are read, where visitors arrive from, what the engine gets asked about, so we can improve it. Analytics data is used in aggregate. It is not used to build advertising profiles, and we do not run advertising or retargeting cookies on this site.

PurposeWhat it doesTypical life
Visit measurementCounts visits and distinguishes a returning device from a new one, so page and session numbers are meaningful.Up to 13 months
Behaviour eventsRecords interactions such as page views, scroll depth, outbound clicks and form or engine submissions.Session to 13 months
Referral sourceNotes how you reached the site, search, a link, a campaign, so we know what is working.Up to 6 months

Preference (non-essential, consent required)

Remember choices you have made so the site behaves the way you left it. They are a convenience, not a requirement, reject them and the site still works, it just forgets your settings between visits.

PurposeWhat it doesTypical life
Display settingsRemembers interface choices such as reduced-motion preference or a dismissed notice.Up to 12 months
Engine stateKeeps your recent engine conversation available if you navigate away and come back within the same visit.Session

To confirm before publication: exact cookie names, providers and lifetimes must be captured from the deployed build and listed here. The table above describes categories, not a verified inventory.

SYS.05 How to control cookies

You have two routes: our consent control, and your browser.

  • On this site. Use the cookie settings control to accept, reject or change your choices at any time. Rejecting non-essential cookies leaves the essential ones in place and does not degrade the content.
  • In your browser. Every major browser lets you block or delete cookies, block third-party cookies specifically, and clear stored data. Look under Settings → Privacy and security (Chrome and Edge), Settings → Privacy & Security (Firefox), or Settings → Privacy (Safari, including “Block all cookies” and “Manage Website Data”). On mobile, the same controls sit in the browser app's settings.
  • Private or incognito windows. These discard cookies when the window closes, which is a quick way to browse without persistent storage.

Be aware that blocking all cookies, including essential ones, can break parts of this and other websites, forms may fail to submit and the engine may not hold a conversation. Clearing cookies also removes our record of your consent choice, so you will be asked again on your next visit.

General, independent guidance on cookies is published by the Information Commissioner's Office at ico.org.uk.

SYS.06 Third parties and changes

Where a cookie is set by a third-party provider, for example our analytics platform or hosting provider, that provider's own notice will also apply to the data it collects. We describe these providers generically because our supplier set can change; a current list is available on request.

We may update this policy when we add, remove or change the technologies we use. The version published here is always the current one, with the last-updated date at the top.
